TikTok can’t stop talking about the Hot Girl Walks. Walking for fitness is creating more buzz than ever. The hashtag #hotgirlwalk currently has 5.9 million views on TikTok.

The latest exercise craze doesn’t require any exorbitantly priced equipment, but it does require a healthy dose of self-confidence.

This spring, seemingly everyone on the app – or at least the youths – has been talking about “Hot Girl Walks.”

What is Hot Girl Walk?

In its purest form, it is a daily four-mile walk outside with an inspirational podcast or music you can move with. Buying a Peleton or any other workout machine isn’t an option, and YouTube workout videos in a tiny studio can only take me so far.

And so, I’ve been going on a lot more walks than usual this year

The premise of the Hot Girl Walk, also known as the #HGW, is simple. According to TikTok influencer Mia, who is credited with starting the trend, is a four-mile walk (that should take about an hour) where all you think about is how hot you are, things you’re grateful for, and all of your goals, hopes, and dreams.

BENEFITS OF THE HOT GIRL WALK?

Moving your body in any way, including walking, is a research-backed way to release endorphins, a set of feel-good chemicals that dull pain receptors in the brain, reduce stress, and leave you with a euphoric feeling.

The physical benefits of walking have already been widely acknowledged in the medical community. Daily walks have been shown to improve everything from cardiovascular health to mobility.

“A lot of people are thinking that the hot girl walk is about weight loss, but it’s not,” she said. “The biggest transformations are the ones that start internally.”

In her viral TikTok video, the 22-year-old outlines the three basic tenets of the Walk. On your walk, you should primarily think about three things:

  • What you’re grateful for
  • How hot you are (naturally, it’s not called a Hot Girl Walk for nothing)
  • Your goals and the steps you need to take to achieve them

By going on Hot Girl Walks, you’re not only focusing on your physical health but are working on your confidence and nurturing your mental and emotional health, too.
