An interview with Maclean, a multi-medal winning para-athlete in Ghana. He’s sharing his experience as a disabled person in Ghana!
At 9 years old Maclean went hunting with his dad. Then the disability came. He used to do little jobs around to earn a living. His mother was a kenkey Seller to make ends meet in the house.
After his disability, he moved out of his parents out because of the stigma associated with disabled people in Ghana.

He Lost his legs to walk fast.
Rochelle asked him how it felt when he became disabled:
Maclean said: it was not easy and was sad because everyone was crying.

He explained people cannot cope with the challenges of life and some take their own lives. In Ghana, there was a perception in the past that people disable were in that condition due to a curse or other supernatural forces.
