Computer and information systems managers supervise organizations' computer-related activities. Computer and information systems managers generally oversee the information technology departments within businesses and organizations. A systems manager's duties depend on organization size and how much technology they use on a daily basis. In smaller settings, systems managers may offer support on an as-needed basis, while larger organizations may require larger IT departments with more hands-on systems manager roles. They plan, install, and monitor software and hardware to meet overall information technology needs. They oversee budgets and information security and implement new technology as needed. Supervisory Responsibilities: 1. Hires and coordinates training of system analysts, programmers, and other computer-related workers on the CIS team. 2. Prioritizes and assigns team members to CIS projects. Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive. Duties/Responsibilities: 1. Collaborates with users, vendors, technicians, and managers to understand and assess computing and system needs and requirements. 2. Communicates the goals, policies, and procedures of the company to the CIS team; develops plans to implement these needs. 3. Evaluates current technology use and needs of the company and recommends software and hardware improvements. 4. Oversees backup, security, and user help systems. 5.Remains current on advances in technology. 6. Provides technical support to users. 7. Prepares and delivers operational or project progress reports. 8.Implements and oversees operational budget and expenditures. Performs other related duties as assigned.
